Reverse the signs of aging with Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that encourages the production of collagen to rejuvenate the skin. This procedure involves the use of a mechanical “pen” containing multiple very fine needles at the tip. When applied to the skin, tiny punctures are delivered to the epidermis (top layer of the skin), which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin during the healing process. Results can include improved skin texture and reduction of imperfections in the skin, such as scarring. Microneedling may also be combined with a topical treatment, such as hyaluronic acid, PRP ( platlet rich plasma) PRF ( platlet rich fibren) or another vitamin-rich serum, for additional collagen producing benefits. We use an FDA approved Skinpen which is the most advanced medical-grade automated microneedling device available.

How Microneedling with PRP Works

This therapy is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment with quick recovery time, and is designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. The treatment actually involves the use of two procedures, micro-needling and PRP (platelet rich plasma) done consecutively.

PRP microneedling, also called platelet-rich plasma microneedling, is a skin rejuvenation technique that’s primarily used to reduce the appearance of various signs of aging.

The first procedure

The first step of the process involves using a device or a roller that uses fine needles to prick the skin. This boosts the body’s natural collagen production. The micro-wounds on the skin also improve the production of elastin.

From treating hyperpigmentation and age spots to eliminating wrinkles, fine lines, and scarring, the PRP microneedling treatment is one of the best ways to get rid of patchy and dull-looking skin that’s riddled with acne scars and blemishes.

Once the treatment is done, the skin looks slightly sunburned and pink but the inflammation subsides within 24 to 72 hours. However, the effects of the treatment last long as the body keeps producing collagen for 4 to 8 weeks after the treatment—allowing patients to see improvements in the overall texture of their skin for longer periods.

The second procedure

The second step of the process is the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that’s created using the patient’s own blood. The platelets are extracted from the blood through the process of centrifugation. The PRP contains high amounts of natural growth factors and cytokinesthat stimulate the body’s natural cell regeneration process—leading to the formation of softer tissues. The PRP is inserted into the channels created with the help of microneedling which further enhances the production of collagen in our body, and improves the healing process. This step lasts for about 60 minutes and has no downtime.

An initial consultation with a medical aesthetician can help patients assess whether they’re suitable candidates for PRP microneedling. The treatment also has minimal downtime and the optimal results can be achieved after 3 sessions that are scheduled 4 weeks apart. The treatment is suitable for people with all skin types except those who scar easily, have a history of poor wound healing, still have active acne scars, or are pregnant.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
The second procedure is called PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). Platelet Rich Plasma is produced from an individual’s own blood. After a blood sample is obtained from a patient, the blood is put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP from the blood. The blood is spun for approximately 15 minutes.
PRP contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors and other cytokines that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The PRP is applied directly to the channels that were created from the micro-needling to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen.
